Bethlehem
Church Centre

The Building was acquired during the summer of 2002.  It was a derelict old warehouse and brick factory.  It is located in spacious grounds and is located on the outskirts of town.  It has been called Bethlehem - "House of Bread" because the vision is for it to be a place that provides bread for the community, that is the spiritual bread of God's Word and the physical bread of being able to meet peoples needs by providing work and aid for the needy. Immediately upon acquiring the building work began so that a meeting room could be established.  Since the beginning of the church the meetings had been held in the living room of the pastor and this became untenable when as a church we outgrew the room we met in.

Rear of building

On the left we have the entrance to the building at the beginning of the work. and on the right the back in the enclosed grounds.  It is obvious from first sight that the building needed a lot of work doing on it.  After a little effort the front was improved and now looks like this:

Renovation of the Meeting Room: The meeting room is located immediately on the left of the main entrance on the above photographs.  Windows were replaced, holes in the walls were repaired and finally the place was redecorated.

Work in progress

Finished and Open The church had it's first service in the building on Sunday 20th October, and we welcomed Pastor Tomasz Kmiecik (at the front right in the photograph below) to preach.  In the second photograph Richard Horton from Lincoln (NLBH, Frontline Poland) is preaching and Kamila Krawczyńska is translating.

The Future Although the building now has a functioning room that is being used for the church it is far from finished and, although the rate of work has slowed, mainly due to the cold winter conditions much still lies ahead of us.  A major project that was started before the onset of winter was the conversion of some out buildings, former garages into flats that will serve as homes for poor and needy people.  Now that the cold winter has passed work has resumed.  There is also a vision for developing the building so that it can be used to serve the disabled community and there are possibilities of it being used for economic projects as well as a Missions School.
