Welcome!    You are blessing # 4166
Who are Frontline Poland?

Established in September 2002, our aims are to bring the Gospel to the people of Radomsko and the surrounding district.  Frontline Poland is part of the ministry of NLBH (formerly New Life Birchwood and Hartsholme), a church which was planted in the suburbs of Lincoln in England in 1997.  NLBH has an active missions policy which has seen it send out workers and/or support projects in fields as varied as Albania, Ethiopia, Kenya, Kosovo, Malawi, and Uganda as well as Poland. This has often been through other missionary organisations as well as through our own contacts.  We are also active members of Ground Level, a network of relating churches primarily based in the East Midlands under the leadership of Stuart Bell who ministers from New Life Christian Fellowship in the centre of Lincoln.

The Vision A flat has been established in the town of Radomsko (see below) to facilitate a full time mission presence within the city. The flat can accommodate up to 10 people at a time in basic put adequate conditions and there are opportunities to get involved in the various activities of the church and the mission.  Activities include aid and development projects, and teaching English as well as youth and children's work.
Where are we?

Radomsko...

Radomsko is a city of about 60,000 people in Łodz district nearer the larger city of Częstochowa to the south. Planted in 1999 the church in Radomsko has been supported by Next Level International as well as the mother church in Częstochowa.  Travel takes about 3 hours from Warsaw, either by car or train. It has also developed a special link with NLBH which has been involved in sponsoring the church since it began.

It is quite an old city dating back to the 13th Century. It has major unemployment problems running to approximately 20% of the working population. Many people live in poor conditions and there is a history of widespread anti-Semitism in the city, owing largely to a large Jewish population before the Second World War. As a consequence of its high Jewish population the city was largely destroyed by its occupiers during the war. After the war the city was virtually completely rebuilt. Industrially it developed during Communist times as place for making furniture. In addition CEFARM a large pharmaceutical company operates in the city. Culturally it is a place where many concerts take place in the open parks and during 2 days every summer, the Days of Radomsko are celebrated with many famous writers, painters and other artists.

Most of the population are Roman Catholic and they come heavily under the influence of Jasna Gora, home to the shrine of the Virgin Mary, in Czstochowa. In 1998 the civic authorities dedicated the city to Saint Jadwiga, one time Queen of Poland and a parallel figure to the Catholic veneration of Mary. There are 12 Catholic Churches in Radomsko and a meeting place for Jehovah' Witnesses.
